Cindy van Es, a senior lecturer, joined the department in 1988. Her areas of expertise are quantitative methods and statistical education. She teaches three analytical courses in the undergraduate business program: Introductory Statistics (AEM 210), Business Statistics (AEM 410), and Decision Analysis (AEM 417). Undergraduate advising is an important part of her program. She is the faculty advisor for the Cornell Business Society and Alpha Kappa Psi, and is co-advisor for STAC (Statistics at Cornell). She won the CALS Professor of Merit award in 1997, was voted "Professor of the Year" by the Panhellenic and Interfraternity Council in 1995 and 1998, and has been chosen three times as "most influential faculty member" by Merrill Presidential Scholars. She also has an interest in enhancing multicultural diversity and improving the campus climate for students, faculty, and staff. She has chaired the CALS Academic Human Diversity and Resources Committee, helped create a college-wide award for the promotion of multicultural diversity, and is assisting with a program in AEM to recruit and mentor minority and female students. |
