Current Professional Activities

Cornell University Graduate Field Membership: Division of Nutritional Sciences; Department of Applied Economics and Management Chairman of the Science Council for the Consultative Group on International Agricultural Research President of the American Agricultural Economics Association (AAEA) Member of various expert committees and editorial boards.

Current Research Activities

The impact of various aspects of globalization on poverty, food security, and nutrition. Ongoing projects include a study of how the European Union agricultural and trade policies affect agriculture and nutrition in Ghana, a study of how the nutrition situation in China is affected by China's membership in the WTO, a study of the determinants of obesity in Korea, and literature reviews of how developing countries are affected by OECD policies on sugar and cotton. Most of this research is undertaken with Ph.D students.
