Wetland Studies and Solutions, Inc. (WSSI) evolved from a real estate development firm specializing in land parcels faced with environmental issues founded by Michael S. Rolband, P.E., P.W.S., P.W.D. in 1988. By 1991 our business had shifted solely to development consulting, primarily related to wetlands, Chesapeake Bay Preservation Act, environmental quality corridors, and stream restoration, floodplain studies, and stormwater quality, and quantity control. Thus, WSSI was incorporated in 1991 to reflect this base of activity. Since then we have grown to be a one hundred person company, a balanced team of civil engineers, environmental scientists, archeologists, surveyors, GIS specialists, and administrative support staff. We examine water resource and environmental issues in the public works, transportation, and real estate development processes in a holistic manner, integrating the practical constraints of economics and land plan requirements with the need to satisfy local, state, and federal regulatory requirements. WSSI is known for applying the most effective methods to the problem at hand, for instance using All Terrain Vehicles on large sites, fully utilizing computer-aided design capabilities that are networked to the latest water resource modeling software, or developing and utilizing proprietary software, such as WetForm, a delineation data form software package. Our projects span the smallest sites to some of the largest and most controversial in the Virginia and D.C. metro area. Whatever the project, we focus our efforts on the problem at hand to develop the most effective and practicable solution for our clients.
