Dan Ramsden is a Managing Director at Near Earth LLC, a New York based firm established by Wall Street veterans to provide i nvestment banking and a dvisory services to companies and investors in the media and communications industry. At Near Earth, Mr. Ramsden focuses on private placements, M&A advisory, and client coverage in sectors including new media, entertainment, telecommunications, and communications infrastructure. Mr. Ramsden’s banking career began in 1990 with Bank of Montreal, where he was a Director involved in leveraged buyouts and highly structured debt financings. In 1994, Mr. Ramsden joined the Bank’s start-up investment banking operation (now BMO Capital Markets) as Managing Director, responsible for the development of a media and communications U.S. investment banking practice. In this capacity, he was responsible for providing private placement services (equity and debt), M&A advice, and public equity and debt underwriting. In 1999, Mr. Ramsden’s responsibilities were expanded to once again include credit-related products and soon thereafter also private equity investments for the Bank’s proprietary fund. He remained active in all these areas until his departure in 2002. During his tenure with BMO Capital Markets and predecessor organizations, Mr. Ramsden executed more than $10 billion in transaction volume, constituting financings, placements, underwritings, and advisory mandates, in nearly all the principal media and communications sectors. Throughout his career, Mr. Ramsden has worked with clients ranging from the earliest-stage seed capital opportunities to mature international public companies, and he has advised issuers as well as investors. He has assisted many of his clients in the creation of business plans and the formulation of long term strategies. Mr. Ramsden graduated from Cornell University, College of Arts and Sciences, in 1986 with a B.A. in English. |
