James Hauslein is Managing Director of Hauslein & Company, Inc., a private investment and buyout firm, and until May 2001 was Chairman of the Board of Sunglass Hut International, Inc. SHI is the world’s largest specialty retailer of non-prescription sunglasses with over 2000 company-owned Sunglass Hut stores in the United States, Canada, the Caribbean, Europe, Asia, Australia, and New Zealand. SHI also operates approximately 100 Watch station stores in the United States and Europe. While Mr. Hauslein served as chairman, SHI grew from $37 million in sales in fiscal 1987 to over $700 million of projected sales for fiscal 2000 when it was sold to the Luxottica Group (NYSE: LUX). Mr. Hauslein is currently an investor in, and a member of the Board of Directors of Closer Healthcare, Inc. and Interstate Connections, Inc. (www.interstate-connections.com). He received his MBA (1984), with Distinction, from Cornell University ’s Johnson Graduate School of Management and his B.S. (1981) in chemical engineering from Cornell University . He is a Director of the Jamestown Foundation; a Trustee of the Boys Club of New York and St. Michael’s Independent School; and a member of the Business Council for the United Nations, the Chairman's Council of Conservation International, the Board of Directors of the International Hall of Fame, the Leader’s Circle of the Library of Congress, and several Alumni Advisory Boards at Cornell University. |
